How can I add Dolby Digital and DTS to my Pro Logic system?
If you have an inexpensive Pro Logic receiver, I would sell it and buy something newer. But if you have an older classic or high-performance Pro Logic processor I would upgrade it. Unless you watch nothing but new DVDs, most of the programming that you watch is Pro Logic encoded. Today's surround decoders, including the MSB MDP3x do not do as good a job of Pro Logic decoding as the real performers of the last decade. Fosgate and Lexicon and all those who followed their example built complex, expensive processors to do a better job of Pro Logic decoding than Dolby. Now the standard Dolby Pro Logic decoding algorithm is part of the overall digital decoder package focused on Dolby Digital and DTS with ever more channels. Nobody cares about Pro Logic anymore, but it is what we spend more time with than anything else. So if you enjoy good Pro Logic decoding, keep your unit, have MSB add a fully automatic 5.1 input upgrade and you can plug in a DVD player with built-in decoding or run an outboard processor for Dolby Digital or DTS, and still enjoy that Pro Logic edge your friends have all lost.
MSB adds a six channel (5.1) input to selected Dolby Pro Logic
Receivers
and surround processors. This enables you to add an outboard Dolby Digital / DTS
processor or DVD player with internal Dolby Digital / DTS processing to your
current system. Pro Logic and Stereo audio will continue to function normally.
We install the DB-25 input connector onto the rear of your unit, and integrate
the 5.1 inputs into the existing volume control and switching. The new input
features automatic switching
The MSB 5.1 Input Upgrade
With the 5.1 Input Upgrade you can simply plug a DVD player with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding into your Pro Logic unit for a cohesive, easy to use system.

How does this strange looking cable fit into the
picture?
MSB produces a unique DB-25 to Six RCA cable that is optimized for the multi-channel Home Theater environment. This cable provides un-compromised playback of the six channel surround sound signals from your outboard DTS / Dolby Digital processor. Many receivers, processors and our 5.1 input upgrade use this Dolby and THX approved connector. This cable allows the six RCA outputs found on most 5.1 processors to be connected directly to a 5.1 input without the use of adapters.
