MSB ISORACK
Back

How Does this proprietary system work?

Mechanical damping and isolation have long been a problem addressed by MSB. In the 1980s we developed IsoPlates, a proprietary layering of iron and damping materials. They were heavy and hard to use. Each product needed its own shelf. As space gets tighter and the problem more critical as system resolutions increase, a better approach was needed.

MSB has developed a unique solution to damping and isolation without the need for a rack or shelves. The MSB Isorack feet are stackable. In most stacking approaches, the feet of the lower layers are crushed beneath the total weight of the stack, and the top products have no real loading or damping. The other problem with stacking is that vibration generated in any one product is passed on through the stack. The MSB Isorack eliminates both problems. The weight of the stack is fully supported by the center post, a solid brass stack, coupled directly to the floor. Each unit essentially hangs on this post by its own optimized damping foot. A heavy unit has a more viscous damping foot, and a light product a less viscous foot. All float with perfect isolation independent of where in the stack they are.

This foot is incorporated into the product package itself and can be used in a stack or alone, with the same great performance.

The diagram below shows a proprietary self-stacking, isolated damping foot design. It was first used on the 2010 Platinum Line.

Each unit is supported by this outer ring. The ring is attached to the center post with a viscous damping material optimized for the specific unit.

Center post is fixed. As many units can be stacked up as required.

Each unit is damped and perfectly isolated regardless of how many units are stacked or where in the stack they are.
